The heartwood of bubinga can be pinkish red to darker reddish brown with purple or black streaks; exposed it becomes yellow or medium brown with reddish tint. Bubinga is known for its figure such as pommele, flamed, waterfall, quilted, etc….which makes this wood unique. Bubinga is easy to work with but with figure tearout can happen. Common uses are inlays, fine furniture, cabinetry, instruments and turnings, as well as natural edge slabs due to the large size of the tree.
