The heartwood is a light brown with dark blackish brown streaks similar to a zebra. Zebrawood saws well. It can be difficult to work with because of its interlocked grain; however it is used for its bold and unique striping. Common uses are tool handles, furniture, skis, instruments, inlaying and cabinetry.
